Rare Pokémon spotted in our Dunfermline Charity Shop!
The recent craze of Pokémon Go has now hit Sunrise Africa Relief!
Pokémon Trainers and collectors passing in Dunfermline have been paying us a visit due to rare Pokémon spotted within our charity shop. The mobile, location-based game for Android and iOS has become a phenomenon worldwide, encouraging people of all ages to ‘Get up and Go’ and find as many Pokémon as they can.
While we welcome the extra visitors and encourage more Pokémon and their collectors to drop by we also welcome any donations or purchases visitors can make. For now, here are some tips to catch the best Pokémon!
Lynda from Sunrise Africa Relief braves the Dunfermline Firewalk (Updated)
Lynda who works in our charity shop recently completed the Dunfermline FireWalk. The event, held at SoulFire in Dunfermline, involves the exciting challenge of walking barefoot across glowing embers at 600-800 degrees fahrenheit.
In doing so Lynda has managed to raise over £175 £258.10 for Sunrise Africa Relief! Thanks, Lynda!
Update from Zambia
Our biggest project at the moment is the drilling of a water borehole at Barlastone Park School in Zambia which will provide a source of freshwater for the school. We recently managed to raise £2,300 from the Edinburgh Marathon run which is being donated to this project.
Today we have received a few photos showing the progress of the borehole and the installation of a water tank. We expect to hear more from Zambia about this important project in the future and will post updates as it progresses.
Stephan Williamson’s report after completing the Edinburgh Marathon for Sunrise Africa Relief
Thank you very much to all of you who sponsored and supported us across the line! We both managed to run a sub 4 hour marathon on the weekend and collectively with Sarah Marzuki and Michael Atkinson have smashed our target and raised £2,300 for Sunrise Africa Relief.
The team in Zambia will begin the water well project in 2 weeks and I shall update you with pics when it is complete.
My parents and everyone involved in the charity are completely overwhelmed by all your generosity, incredible effort! Thanks again!
